Autodesk has an entire website specifically geared towards students with video tutorials and free downloads of their software.. including Revit, AutoCAD, etc. Includes discussion forum. I know that type of site is nothing revolutionary because many software companies have similar sites (maximize sales! woo!), but hey, it's still cool and useful so I'm just puttin it out there. Very user friendly and great way for beginners to familiarize themselves with the interfaces before making huge software purchases.. (or even to just start getting the gist of a program you might be asked to use at an internship).

Archinet School Blogs. Students currently in architecture programs blog about their experiences. Here's one from UCLA (one of the schools I want to apply to).
The following was an installation from around May of last year. Pretttttty exciting. I wish I could have seen the finished installation in person. Alas, I discovered this blog only just now.

Architecture firm founded by a SCI-ARC and Columbia University grad. I like their philosophy about architecture:
"World is isolated. Architecture operates as a territorial machine. Architects are the agency of economic and political forces. STUDIO EEUM believes that this notion of "connections" will be our continuous challenge. World is beautiful and complex. And yet architecture is predictable and singular. Our desire for creation tries to guide collective and multiple creations."

My fascination with bodies of water, mostly in the form of pools, started early on. One of my most cherished memories my mother has told me of my childhood was of my fearless jump from the high dive into the community pool in our then hometown of Simsbury, Connecticut. 3 years old, donning my floaties, I climbed up and up, to the tip top of the high dive. Sauntered my way to the edge and just.... went. for. it. Splash! Perfect landing and perfect glee. Bold young lass, I became.

*Plug* for the latest installation (we're currently hard at work constructing it) at the organization I am interning for.
"The installation is inspired by a comic book Lai created to assert commentaries regarding the Broadacre City-- a 1932 Frank Lloyd Wright vision of a Utopian city where each family own a one-acre agrarian plot and commutes by private automobile. Wright never really took into account that space and natural resources are limited. We are witnessing such an impact today. Wealthier citizens have fled cities for sprawling suburban sub-divisions. Downtown cores are left to the poor, and cities are becoming increasingly ineffective in controlling energy consumption. Lai takes Broadacre City to outer space. Flipping it on its side and making it an Ark are ways he signifies that resources are finite. It is a world where every man (gets) a dwelling unit and every man (gets) a pointlessly boring job... until the citizen dies."

Filmmakers can post their films for everyone to view. First registration period is free, then 7.99/month (in pounds) after that. This specific link is a nifty music video I found on their home page.

He contacted me through My Space because he had similar photos of the graffitti in Greece that I had taken some shots of. Cool stuff here. Portraits, music, urban, etc.
